J.V. O'Loghlin was elected to the South Australian Parliament for Labor in 1888 and remained there for fifteen years. He held ministerial positions at various times including Chief Secretary and Minister for Defence. From 1913-1919 and then from 1922 until his death he was a member of the senate for South Australia.
